I

Roshni from the Institute of Administrative Sciences, University of the Punjab, and an enthusiastic women’s rights activist from the Hindu community, organized an awareness session on Gender Equality and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) at Tahafuz Manzil Foster Home. The session was followed by a thoughtfully arranged Iftar for approximately 30 children during the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative brought together young participants in a safe and engaging environment to discuss essential themes of equality, respect, and personal well-being. The session aimed to foster awareness among children while encouraging open dialogue on rights and dignity—values essential for building an inclusive society.
Rooted in the teachings of Hinduism, which emphasize compassion, selfless service (Seva), and the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—“the world is one family”—the initiative reflected a deep commitment to humanity beyond religious boundaries. The act of arranging an Iftar for Muslim children during Ramadan symbolized mutual respect, coexistence, and shared cultural values in Pakistan’s diverse social fabric.
The Iftar gathering strengthened the spirit of togetherness, providing nourishment, a sense of belonging, and joy for the children, while reinforcing empathy, kindness, peace, inclusion, and collective responsibility for a more compassionate and harmonious Pakistan.
